4/13/10 Class 17 Reaction

I was making notecards for the test and I came across some things that I had questions about...

1) for wide are networks, what do you mean by "think second life or MMOGS"?

2) under modems, what does "modulator-demodulator" mean?

3) Is Internet telephony like skype?

    For WANS, Second Life is played by people around the world, simultaneously...and MMOGS is a TLA that stands for (amazingly, NO one in either class asked what it meant!) Massively Multiperson Online Gaming System.

    Modems modulate analog signals into digital form, and then demodulate the digital signals into analog form.

    Skype IS an example of VOIP...
